Dan Lyons MA
Dan has owned Eightfold Property since 2004 (when it was called Brighton Accommodation Agency) and has since altered every facet of the company. When acquired, the company had no branding, staff or even a computer, and has now grown into a true force in the Brighton housing market, diversifying its offerings to include high end student housing and more recently commercial sales and lettings. Having been a musician for the former years of his life, its been a refreshing take on the industry to not come with a corporate view, and instead build something that Is both organic and personable. Being a professional bass player for fifteen years allowed Dan to learn the team building and people skills that been prevalent as he has built his team. Dan’s family have long run businesses in Brighton, from Lyons and Son carpets in Hanover and latterly The North Laines to Original Pub Holdings (at one time Brighton’s most successful pub company), there has been a long history of successful integration with his family into Brighton’s business scene, and wealth of experience to draw upon. Married to Debbie since 2007 he lives in Seaford with his daughter Olivia, 14, who shares his love of music, and their two dogs Boris and Nelly and Hugo the cat.
He recently completed an MA in Music Industry and Innovation at Water Bear College, adding to his extensive musical knowledge from over 30 years in the industry (the last 15 being on the periphery granted) - having toured the UK multiple times and a bit or Europe as well - having played with legends such as Steve Ellis, Paul Weller and Mike Ross, as well as some of Brightons best loved bands of the mid to late 90’s.
Being a late comer to any sort of physical exertion, he did start running in 2011, and has since completed a few marathons, finishing up with running Hadrians Wall (69 Miles) in a day, half of The South Downs Way (50 Miles) in a day, and ultimately The Marathon Des Sables, 156 miles through the Sahara Desert, raising over £50,000 for The Chestnut Tree in the process. Now though he does a lot more hiking with his family and dogs. The cat stays at home.
